About Coaching
Coaching assists a person to develop their innate potential, both human and spiritual.
At Ignite Coaching Inc. we are trained in the Co-Active coaching model which has four
cornerstones. They are:
1. The client is naturally creative, resourceful, and whole.
2. The agenda comes from the client.
3. The coach dances in the moment.
4. Co-active coaching addresses the client’s whole life.

In other words, the client already has the answers, the learning and the solutions they
need or seek. The coach uses powerful questioning, extensive listening, imagery, a
variety of tools and exercises to help the client tap into these natural resources they have
in order to achieve their most fulfilling, balanced life, to reach their magnificent potential,
to achieve their goals, to understand what they can do with all their ability. It is
sometimes described as: the coach has the questions and the client has the answers.
The client always brings the agenda – the topics for discussion and is expected to take
responsibility for bringing that agenda to the coach. In other words, the client says where
or why they need help or assistance. Essentially there is a relationship between the coach
and client that has to be open and honest and both parties commit to this. The coach
listens and then guides the client, keeping in mind what the client has said they ultimately
want, often referred to as the client’s big agenda. Sometimes the client comes to the
coach focusing on an aspect of their daily lives which highlights a bigger agenda that
needs focus and attention - a greater vision for what they may want to do with their life or
how they will live it. The coach assists the client to work on the small and the big details.
The coach creates a safe place for the client where the client feels secure in talking and
working with the coach to achieve clarity, take action and move forward.
The coach ensures the client is always steering toward fulfillment and balance in their life
and are able to engage in the process of their lives. Actions are decided upon to move the
client forward and the client has to be accountable to the coach – he or she has to tell the
coach when he or she will do it and let the coach know when he or she has completed the
action. Structures are set in place to keep the client accountable. Learning comes for the
client in doing the action or not doing it and assisting the client to notice what they learn
from what they do or don’t do. Often the greatest learning is between coaching sessions
where the client will reflect on what came out of the coaching session and be ready to
move forward with greater insight as to what “makes them tick”; what is important to
them and how to live, taking those important things, values, strengths and needs into
account in everything they do and decide on a daily basis.
Coaching helps the client set the intention for their lives and then deal with what comes
their way. Having a coach hear what the client is saying and reflect it back to the client
allows the client to really hear it themselves, sometimes for the first time. Clients will
often tap right into something or some talent they know they have had their whole life but
have not fully appreciated until the coaching opens it up. Ignite Coaching views the
impact of coaching as the breath, the fire from the dragon which ignites a person’s
behaviour and thinking and allows them to soar in whatever aspect of their life they have
chosen as their focus.
